Lighting up Stapleford Town


The countdown to Christmas begins for the community of Stapleford on Saturday 27th November with the annual Stapleford Christmas light switch on event taking place at Walter Parker VC Memorial Square, Victoria Street and within Victoria Street car park.

You can find the Christmas market on Victoria Street from 12noon.

The event will start at 4.30pm with a range of hot food, sweets and donut stalls for you to dive into and children’s funfair rides.

On the square between 2.30pm and 5.45pm you can visit Santa’s Grotto to make all your Christmas wishes.

Throughout the event, you can enjoy live music, festive carols and street entertainment.

Look out for the Icicle Queens and a festive Mickey & Minnie and join in singing Christmas carols prior to the lights switch on.

You do not want to miss the Christmas light switch on ceremony at 5.30pm at the Christmas tree, so join the Mayor of Broxtowe and the Town Mayor in the countdown.

Mispent Youth will entertain you on the main stage, playing a wide mix of music from acts such as the Jam and Stereophonics.

The event culminates in a spectacular firework display at 6.30pm; The best place to view the display is on Derby Road or Victoria Street Car Park.

Important road closure information:

Lower part of Victoria Street closed from 12pm-9pm

Bottom half of Victoria Street Car Park closed 6am-10pm

Derby Road between, and including William Road and Albert Avenue closed from 4.30pm-7.30pm

The event is organised by LLeisure Events in conjunction with the Stapleford Christmas Steering Group, Stapleford Town Council and supported by Stapleford Community Group.
