As Leader of the Broxtowe Independent Group, I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to the residents of Broxtowe ahead of the Nottinghamshire County Council elections on Thursday, 1st May.
Throughout this election campaign, our members have made it clear that we are committed to running a clean, honest, and respectful campaign. We have not hidden behind anonymous social media accounts, nor have we encouraged others to belittle, attack or smear any of the candidates standing for election. Elections should be about ideas, community service, and a genuine commitment to public life — not personal attacks or dirty tactics.
Sadly, elections are often a stressful time for all candidates, and it is disappointing when some feel the need to resort to negativity to try to undermine those of us who put ourselves forward to serve. This kind of behaviour has no place in local democracy. I am proud to say that every member of the Broxtowe Independent Group has stayed true to the principles of honesty, fairness and community spirit throughout this campaign.
Standing alongside me are candidates who share this vision. Donna MacRae and myself, Richard MacRae, are standing in the Stapleford and Broxtowe Central Ward, hoping to continue our proven track record of positive community work and service to local residents.
We are also proud to have Steve Carr standing in the Bramcote and Beeston North Ward, and Kane Oliver standing in the Brinsley, Greasley, and Watnall Ward. Both are passionate about their communities and determined to represent local people in a fair, open and honest way.
On Thursday 1st May, we ask for your support. By voting for the Broxtowe Independent Group, you are voting for candidates who put community before politics, people before party, and respect before rivalry. We are here to work for you, not to play political games.
