Hickings Lane Recreation Ground Closed Due to Vandalism and Arson.

Hickings Lane Recreation Ground is currently closed following a series of deliberate fires and acts of vandalism. Signs at the entrance to the park inform residents of an arson attack that has occurred within the community, causing significant damage to play equipment and facilities.

Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, in conjunction with local authorities, has confirmed that these incidents have severely impacted the area. Their notice reminds the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

Arson is not only a criminal act but one that puts lives and properties at risk. A local notice states, “Arson Injures – Arson Kills – Arson Wrecks Lives,” highlighting the severe consequences of such acts.

The damage caused by these reckless acts has resulted in the temporary closure of the play area. Broxtowe Borough Council has also posted a notice informing the public that repairs are underway but delayed due to the need for spare parts. They have apologised for the inconvenience, ensuring residents that the situation is being closely monitored by the authorities.

As a local Councillor, I have reached out to all relevant local authorities and requested a coordinated effort to address the issue. It is vital that we work together to find solutions and prevent further incidents. We urge all residents to remain vigilant and report any information they may have regarding the recent acts of vandalism.

It is essential for our community to feel safe and for our public spaces to be protected for future use. By working together, we can restore Hickings Lane Recreation Ground and deter those responsible for these senseless acts from targeting our community again. Anyone with information is urged to contact their local police station or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This is a time for our community to come together and support each other as we address the challenges at hand and ensure that Hickings Lane Recreation Ground can once again serve as a safe place for our children and families.
