Festival of Science and Curiosity a great success.

Over the past two days, Beeston Young People’s Centre, affectionately known as ‘The Shed’, has been a hub of excitement, hosting a series of interactive events as part of the Nottinghamshire Festival of Science and Curiosity (FOSAC).

This annual festival, running from 10th to 21st February 2025, is dedicated to celebrating science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) through fun, hands-on activities across Nottinghamshire. The festival aims to make science more accessible, engaging young minds and encouraging curiosity about the world around them. (nottsfosac.co.uk)

The Beeston events saw a fantastic turnout, with youngsters and their families getting involved in experiments and discovery-based activities. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as children explored science in a way that was both educational and entertaining.

As the lead for Broxtowe, I have been involved in bringing FOSAC events to the area for the past two years. Encouraging curiosity through science is something I am passionate about, as it inspires children to ask questions and helps develop a lifelong passion for discovery and learning. Today, I was delighted to be joined by Stapleford Councillor Stephen Richardson, who also thoroughly enjoyed the event and seeing so many families engaging with science.

A special thank you goes to Broxtowe Borough Council, whose support has been invaluable in making this event a success. Funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund has helped bring these activities to the local community, ensuring that families can enjoy free, high-quality STEM experiences.

The Nottinghamshire Festival of Science and Curiosity is organised by the local education charity Ignite! in collaboration with various partners across the county. The festival continues to inspire and engage people of all ages, making science a fun and accessible part of everyday life.
