New date: Saturday 17th April 2021
The walk was postponed due to the national lock-down. However, in light of the recently announced plan to ease lock-down measures a provisional date for the walk has been set for Saturday 17th April. We would encourage everyone who has not already done so to read more about Michele and Sam’s walk and support this great effort to raise funds.
About the walk
Two of Citizens Advice Broxtowe’s most popular staff will undertake a 13 mile walk to raise funds for the Mayor’s Charity campaign. Samantha Busuttil and Michele Cowlishaw will walk to all three of the charities offices in Beeston, Stapleford and Eastwood. Both Sam and Michele have worked tirelessly to help people who need help during these difficult times. They have been on the front line supporting people at risk of homelessness, struggling to pay bills and understanding the complexities of the support available whether that be the Furlough Scheme, Universal Credit or other forms of help and support.
The walk starts at the Beeston CAB Office, waved off by the Mayor of Brxotowe, Cllr Janet Patrick. They will then walk the 3 miles to the Stapleford Office before proceeding along the Erewash Cycle trail to the Eastwood Office. The route will take them past some of Broxtowe’s most historic landmarks.
Citizens Advice Broxtowe is an independent local charity that helps 8,000 people each year with the problems they face. Its services have been in demand during the pandemic as many people struggle to understand their entitlements when their income has reduced by the resulting economic downturn impacting on their ability to meet day to day bills, maintain mortgage or rent payments or those who have faced redundancy.
