Ladies and gentlemen, I am honoured to be here today to reflect on the incredible year that has been 2023. It has been a year filled with excitement, new adventures, and most importantly, a year of community service and growth.
As I begin to reflect on my journey so far, I would like to start by thanking someone who has been an incredible support system to me – my dear friend and former Mayor of Broxtowe, David Grindell. Together, we have attended many exciting events, from duck races to community meetings, and have been able to help so many residents with a wide variety of issues. I must also thank my wife and Councillor Donna MacRae and our daughter Danni. Without the help, support, and encouragement from them both, I would not be able to do any of this.
Our journey has not been without challenges, but through our determination and hard work, we have been able to make a significant impact on our community. I am grateful for the support and trust placed in me by our residents, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for us in 2024.
As we look forward to the year ahead, I am committed to continuing to work hard for our community and to make sure that Stapleford remains a place where everyone feels valued and supported by being a voice in Council meetings. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve our great town, and I am looking forward to what the next year has in store for us.
